She said her business partner advised against working with me.
“Don’t share too much,” they said. “Your clients shouldn’t know your business.”
And I understood. Not because I agreed, but because I recognized the voice of a very old paradigm.
A paradigm that taught women that if they want to be taken seriously in business, they must be polished, not personal. Capable, but never too complex. Successful, but never too seen.
We were raised in systems that celebrated professionalism over personhood. That praised us for emotional control while punishing us for emotional truth. That applauded our productivity, but not our presence.
And for decades, many of us complied.
We wore the mask for every occasion with sophisticated grace. We mastered the tone of compliance, ensuring our voices were pleasing to the ear. We became fluent in the language of acceptability. Even when it cost us our creativity, our intuition, our vitality, our genius.
But here’s the truth beneath the surface:
Too many brilliant women are still building in isolation. Competing instead of co-creating. Silencing themselves in the name of “standards.” Running empires on fumes, because they’ve been taught that asking for support implies weakness. That visibility comes with judgment. That leadership must be stoic, linear, clean.
We’ve internalized the belief that if we want to be taken seriously, we must not be fully ourselves.
But that false belief is slowly dissolving into universal truth.
Not because someone gave us permission, but because we’ve remembered our power.
The New Paradigm: Where Sovereignty Meets Collaboration
A new way of doing business is emerging. One where women are no longer asking to belong, instead they're creating spaces where brilliance, transparency, and truth coexist.
This new paradigm says:
You can be extraordinary and still evolving.
You can hold power and express nuance.
You can be strategic and intuitive.
You can be discerning without being disconnected.
And perhaps most importantly: you can collaborate with other women without diminishing your own genius.
In this new paradigm, we no longer pretend that we are “fine” as a badge of strength. We no longer hide behind marketing filters that disconnect us from ourselves. We no longer believe that being “professional” means being less human.
Instead, we create economies of artistry, trust, and sovereign excellence. We choose who sits at our table with intention. We hire each other. We support each other’s businesses because we see each other’s genius. We move shoulder-to-shoulder, not in competition, but in collaboration.
Contemplate This:
Where are you still wearing the mask of professionalism?
In what ways are you dimming your uniqueness to be more “acceptable” in your field?
What would shift if you began building your business from truth rather than performance?
What becomes possible when you surround yourself with women who meet you at your standard?
This isn’t about oversharing. This is about choosing sovereignty over separation. Truth over perfection. Depth over performance.
It’s about building businesses that are alive with soul. And surrounding ourselves with women who are doing the same.
With audacity and artistry,
Elle
